Welcome to the UK alumni association of the Japanese government sponsored ‘Ship for World Youth Program’. A fantastic youth scheme aiming to:

  • Foster mutual understanding
  • Develop international friendships
  • Broaden young peoples’ globalperspective (Age requirements 18 – 35)
  • Install a spirit of international co-operation

What is SWY?

SWY is a unique initiative organised and implemented by the Director-General for Policy Planning and Co-ordination,part of the Cabinet office of the Japanese Government. It is an annual initiative that commenced in

1998, involves 12 different countries and has been run every year, sailing east or west alternately.
